Our Story

If you're into indie music from Kansas City, you might recognize that lyric. It's from the song "Wooden Heart" by Listener. A friend introduced me to that song a decade ago and it's been something of a fifth gospel to our family. (Settle down now, you haven't even listened to the song yet).
The lyrics paint a perfect picture of our human condition. We're all doing the best we can with what we have, but if we're honest, we come up short time and time again. Often, it's the people around us that make the difference between a hard season and a hard life. If you're like us, you've benefited from the relationships around you. It's the parents that paid for your education or the down payment on a house or maybe just left you something when they passed on. Maybe it's the friend that helped you get a job when you lost yours. It could be the friends that walked with you through a period of grief, allowing you space to process your loss in a healthy way.
The sad truth is, not everybody gets those second and third chances. We've been lucky enough to have great people around our family over the last decade. Had we not, we'd definitely be divorced. We would have had to file bankruptcy. We wouldn't have been in the position to adopt two kids out of foster care or work with another dozen parents to reunify with their children. Don't miss this, we are not special. Everyone has the ability to thrive provided they have the margin to start again. And that is why TBD Creatives exists.
We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to start again after they've been counted out. We are using our creativity to create products that are not only good for you, but good for others because every sale helps to provide jobs and opportunities for those who have been overlooked and under-resourced. We strive to be a beacon of hope and healing for those who have been broken by life's struggles because they are "us." My guess is they are you too.
